Whirlwind.

Its nice to be back. It's nice to feel nice... to look around and take in a breath of fresh, crisp air.

This is truly the season to be jolly. But I am asking myself why I bother waiting for the season in order to perk up. Well, there is a reason for the season...true.. but I'm sure I can find sumthin to smile abt all year round :)

Bout 3 weeks back, I completed an essay on altruism and its (probable) selfish undertones.. lets juz say that my conclusion wasnt a crowd pleaser..it didnt please the Aussie markers for sure..lol..but i guess there is sumthin that I left out in that essay..something along the lines of reciprocal altruism. Kind of an oxymoron I guess.. but I suppose it's precisely what makes some people tick.

There's this saying that goes "No good deed goes unpunished"..it's disturbing to say the least. I truly hate that phrase for one simple reason - It's kinda true :s ... It speaks of how one can go about doing nice things but almost always ends up being the only one left standing when the shit hits the fan. Why does that keep happening? I dont know.. Karma? Prolly, if there's even such a thing..

But tdy, I was given a reason to believe (again) that its always worth all the troubles to be nice and keep at it... Goes sumthin like this - I wanted to get a certain gift and it was only sold at a chain of stores. Although they had many outlets, every single friggin store was out of stock for tt item..save for two. So I called and called..and called..the two stores for abt 3 days..until finally, i got an ans from one outlet - like FINALLY. I tell you, I'm honestly tired of hearing tt stupid automated voice apologising profusely to me, telling me tt their operators were all engaged. After a while, it felt like I was seriously talking to some electrical component/appliance..like imagine having a serious, straightforward & lengthy conversation with your tv and you might get what I mean.
So yeah, they told me that they would reserve the item for me and I was soooo darn thankful to them for that. I remembered to be extra polite and thanked the manager no less than 732.43 times. Seriously. I counted. Not.

Then I rushed down to the store and reached there 15 mins before closing time and they actually recognised me by my voice! Kinda creepy but nvm.. so I asked for the manager and thanked the lady personally (yes i did it one more time...I was feeling VERY nice. So sue me) Well..i dunno..I guess they were pretty happy tt I gave them business juz before closing time..or maybe it was because i was an extra-nice customer..but they decided to pass me 2 different lucky draw coupons to fill in...I wasnt entitled to the 2nd one btw, but they juz slipped it to me and said "Nah, nvm, give you this also, juz fill up k? All the best". Ok, nothing much..considering it was juz a lucky draw. But the prizes are good..one was for some hefty cash prize I think and the other was for a trip to the States..cool, by my standards.

I left once I was done filling up the coupons and started the long, arduous trek back to the mrt station. 15 mins later, I still wasnt at the station yet and, lo and behold, I realised that I had left the umbrella which I borrowed from my office, at the store...I know, dumbass. So yeah, did a 180 and rushed back to the store.. They were alr closed when I got there but the staff were still ard, thank God! I tapped on the glass like a hungry child outside a bakery and gestured to the umbrella and one of them promptly got up to get it for me...But on his way to the main entrance, I noticed tt he went to the back of the store to grab a small white box first..
I went over to the entrance and waited for him to open the gate...then as he passed me the umbrella, he handed me the box as well! I was a lil confused and asked him wat that was and he went "Oh its nothing, we just wanted you to have it la, thats all..take care ah.." So I thanked him AGAIN and went aside to see what was in the box...
Well guess what? It was nothin but a limited edition Singtel F1 Grand Prix watch :P Yeah..I was also like WT...
You see this company is pretty well known here and they were closely linked to the S'pore Grand Prix. So i guess it figures la.. heh :)

So there...I had a pretty good day, to say the least :D SO to everyone out there who is feeling tired and wants to give up...pls dont k? Hang in there..not because a reward is close at hand...no... its cos its simply worth it. And if it makes ya feel better, what goes around, comes around :)
